I have no idea if this is the same location of the 02-05 WRX, if anyone knows let me know! This basically gets rid of those annoying daytime running lights.

Unscrew circled screws, the one's with arrows hold a module on the box, its a bit tough to align back up after unscrewing, so you can unplug the harness by reaching behind it shown in the pic below this.

You can unplug this or just unscrew it shown in the pic above

on my 02 all you have to do is unplug one connection near the passenger side valve cover, done.

Snipped that green wire under the steering column on the 07. Helped 07_wrx_85 do it today. Fairly permanent but all you need is to snip it. 8)

When we did my '05, it was behind the glovebox also. It's been a while now, but I don't remember there being that many screws to get to it on the '05, though.

That is because I pulled your glove box..

04 05 is basically the same, but the plug is in a different spot.

05 is just the one plug by the door.

Everyone should do this one. Then you can show your sexy amber free lights :D Unless you suck and still have amber in there :P

I think I might try to cut the green wire for drl disable. I just dont want to cut the wrong one. Do you have any pics?

I don't have any pics of mine, but I can probably get one this week. When I did it I never saw the one that Jeff just posted. So you can either go the easy route by cutting the wire or the hard route by disconnecting under the glove box. If you ever have any intentions of going back I'd do the glove box route.

You're also more than welcome to come by and we can match up the wire just looking so you're 100% sure you have the right one. I know it's scary, I was super scared too!

Curious on why anyone would do this?

If the cabin air filter hasn't been replaced recently order one off ebay and once it arrives pull the glove box and install it and pull the DRL plug. 2 birds, one stone.

Don't feel like DRLs really add any safety, and it's costing me bulb life. Also has to be disconnected if you install HIDs.

This. I like the option of being able to pull into a friends driveway or my parents driveway at night and be able to turn my lights off so I don't have to blast them into someones house. I like to think of it at a courtesy feature too.

This, and parking infront of a glass front store I always troed to turn off my headlights.. :(

Probably better to leave them if you have no opinion. Could keep from getting pulled over after dark. :drunken:

I just got it done. I would have never figured it out if it wasn't for the link. It was much more difficult than just an unplug.

I can't view the full sized pics from my phone currently so I can't read the full description on the pics, but in pic 5/6 what's the reason for disconnecting those 2 plugs or unbolting them to drop them down?

from what I can see, there's no reason to take that step. It looks like you just need to unplug the harness on the other side and be done with it

That's what I was thinking...

IIRC that step is not needed.. I reposted this after a hack, there was some back up sight on the web, like a cobalt freeware, I saved this.

If you do it and for sure do not need that step, I can delete it. :)
