Looking for shop for dynamat install?

Postby basscadet » Sat Jul 31, 2010 4:31 pm

Does anyone know of any shops locally that will do a professional job installing dynamat/hushmat/etc? I want to pull the seats and carpet and do the floors as well as the doors and trunk. I know it will be pricey but I'm looking to spend less than $2000 for everything.

If you buy the mat, you could do it yourself.. :)

all you need is the wooden roller that dynamat sells, or a tennis ball, a stiff one, and a hair dryer/heat gun...stuff is super easy to put in, its the labor you would pay that kills you

Agreed, you can definately do it yourself. It's super easy.

No, I'm not. I just want to quiet my car down a lot. The car is a 2008 Mitsu Evo X. The road noise is tolerable, I just would like it to be quieter. :)

Honestly I would rather pay someone to do it who has done it before and is a professional.

So I'm guessing Sante Fe Auto Sound is the only remaining pro audio shop in the KC area? I guess I'll have to go there but they're going to charge me an arm and a leg I bet...

regular dynamat, even extreme or similar products will not fix road noise, you would have to do a layer or two of that plus a layer of something like this dynapad>>> http://www.dynamat.com/products_car_audio_dynapad.html

plus, if ur car is anything like a subaru, a majority of your road noise comes through your doors and side panels and trunk area.

but, short of buying a new car there is no way to truly eliminate road noise from a cheaper sports car as opposed to some high end Mercedes or something with a 100k price tag

I had Santa Fe do the insulation on my doors along with other audio install stuff. IF you are getting a lot of things done then they will work with you on the pricing. Talk to the manager Adam Gerry since he seems to be the most helpful guy around.

+1 Adam sold me my wife's system. any issues he always dove on. They used to be sponsors here, they may still offer a discount?

They don't any more. However, they did give me a pretty great price on the whole package.

I have put over 1000sqft of deadening in cars. I also have sprayed doors with expanding deadening.

My gf's mom works for the company that used to produce hushmat.

I could assist anyone that needs it, or if you want it done at a shop, we do Hushmat and Dynamat. We also get quite a bit of product from Santa Fe, they do great work as well. Sometimes pricey though. I dont want to get in trouble for this post, just want you guys to keep us in mind when it comes to audio and such. Another thing to think about is that Hushmat/Dynamat gets HEAVY when you do an entire car. Definently wont help any 1/4 mile times.
