    WRX Gas Mileage

My friend is maybe getting a new job and has been looking at used cars for his commuter car. A WRX is on the list. He is a little concerned about highway mileage though. I know on my Legacy GT with a tune I was getting 25-27 on the highway if I behaved. Is there anyone on here beating the WRXs stated 25 mpg on a regular basis? If so, did you have any mods to do it?

No mods - the trip computer currently shows 28.2 mpg over the past 420 miles. That is sans spirited driving and driving 65 mph on the interstate.

I kept hand calculated gas mileage data for nearly 400 days on my 06 WRX in order to obtain a solid sample to derive a average from.

I averaged 25.4 mpg over the course of those 400 days.

This included a trip to go snowboarding in Colorado, a handful of trips to Wichita KS to visit family and my normal 70 mile round trip commute to work 4 days a week. The data also included one AutoX event in which i ran my car in an autoX school on Saturday and the actual event on Sunday for a total of 18 runs on the autox course.

I don't drive like a maniac or beat on the car constantly, however, on a nice day going home I will have some 'fun' on the various on and off ramps heading home. I typically shift between 3.5k-4k.

The mods done to my car are minimal. I have a catless turbo back exhaust with a stage two map flashed to the ECU.

I can dig up the actual data that shows the total mileage driven, mileage per day, cost per day, cost per mile etc etc ... If you want it anywho.
