I bought a red hazard switch from here:
https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/prod ... ts_id=1128 (https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=1128)

Here is a write up of my install. I was amazed how simple it was.

Before:

Pull back on plastic behind gear lever, it should slip right out.

Unscrew two screws on HVAC surround.

Pry HVAC surround upwards, I had to use a flathead screw driver towards the top to pry the surround away from the console

Then you will see three screws that are screwed in under the vents. One on the left, right and one in the center, remove these three.

Pull the vent assembly straight out towards you.

Now disconnect the existing hazard switch plug from the switch and push the switch out through the vent assembly. (Towards the interior of the cabin)

Pop in the new switch and connect the plug. Test to make sure hazards work.

Reassemble in revers order from the vents down to the panel around the gear shift.

Fin!

Well done. :)

BTW your turn signals will not work without a hazard switch in it. In case you decide to run an errand with the switch out. :)
