How early is to early to buy winter tires?

Are they cheaper now, or as the become more popular in fall?

Blizzaks, 225/45 x 17

tires wise I have no comment ..
after pulling apart my old STi that experienced alot of winter fun (rust everywhere), I decided that Casper would never see the winter months
I bought this jeep grand wagoneer off my dad to drive during the winter. Despite the fun a STi can provide you on a winter day , Its just worth it to buy a car for less than a grand to roam around in during the winter and keep your baby warm, clean and salt free.
just my 2 pennies :D

Which Blizzaks are you looking for? There are 3 different kinds.

Actually, there are more than that, but I believe these to be the most commonly available and of the non-studded.

If you want a studded snow tire hankook as a new one that is pretty inexpensive called the winter i*pike

This is tire racks #1 snow tire.

If I read the chart right they cost more than my Star specs. By about a 50% increase.

These are #2 and priced a lot more like Star Specs..

Pirelli's are $200 a corner..

Right now I am leaning toward dunlop.. The tirerack doesn;t have my size in most of the Blizzaks.. :(

I run the dunlop winter sport 3D's and they are just flat out badass. Even in snow i had to actually try to break traction. There was nothing i had a problem with last winter.

I have the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tires too & like them. In the size you posted they are $162, but I think TireRack has a special going for these.

Don't they say something like 6-8 weeks to process...those things take forever.

On another note, I'm interested to hear your review/thoughts on performance of those dunlops in the snow!
