I followed Legacychick's advice.

Mothers claybar and Wolfgang's paint sealant..

HOLY MOLLY. The car looks great.

Only bad thing is when you work this hard and close on your car you find EVER issue. But the cars paint looks 3-4 times better. I was supprised how many little rust spots there were.

I think Next weekend I will take on the wheels, again.. :(

Get some wheel wax. Aristocrat motors should have it but call and check. The Mercedes parts dept. It seems to help make it easier when cleaning my wheels.

Do mine next!

I don't have the patience for this sort of thing.

How does $200 sound?

Sounds like I'll pass.

Remember, I don't intend on keeping the WRX much longer, so my philosophy at the moment is if it's not necessary, I'm not going to spend money on it. :bounce:

I took the tar off with gasoline. :)

Then washed it again.

I didn't spend much time on the plastic parts. Only clayed the front bumper cover.

Then sealed it all.

Ignored completely the side skirts, figured I would hit them another time as they are pretty bad.

Thanks for the tips.

Looks great! I claybar mine twice a year before waxing. I may try the sealant this fall. It is definitely true how many little particles stuck to the paint that rust. Usually takes me a 3-4 hours just to finish the claybar process!

Car looks great. And yeah not only does it take long but it is a great shoulder workout too. And wheels...the best way I found to do wheels is clean the shit out of them normal with soap and water. Dry them and one at a time take them inside lay a towel down on the floor and watch movies. I get all the tar spots first, scrub down the wheel and then polish. Then go get another. :)

Looks good man. With the motivation of seeing your pics I got off my butt yesterday and got mine down as well. Now I'm at looking out the window watching rain drops bead off the car like page running down a country road. I love it!

Someone let me use their driveway to detail my car. :( I currently have about 1500 miles worth of dead bugs splattered all over my car plus I haven't waxed my car since last March.

Get those bugs off ASAP, they are horrible on your paint! Using the presoak setting at the car wash works well on bugs.

A car detailing meet would be fun!

Yea. I am going to go home and pick up my bug and tar remover and go get the whole thing hosed off.

And yes, a car detailing meet would be super fun.
