I'd like to do another get together too. I don't think I've met everyone coming and I'd like to beforehand. I'm 99% sure I can come I just have to clear it with work still and make sure I have enough leave to go.

Dan is riding with me, not sure where you live but I can pick you up. Noonish fill up at BP, then head to the BBQ!

BWW sounds good to me.

How about something a bit more central, like the Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill? Parking might be an issue, and the flea market bar & grill doesn't take credit/debit cards at all.

Any other Westport (or Plaza / Crown Center) suggestions?

Blue Springs BP is closed.. :(

I purpose 2 suggestions.

1. The BP by the stadiums. Pro's on route for almost everyone, easy to find, next to a Taco Bell, con's small lot.
2. LSS Pro's, car wash, good hang out, con's WAY out of the way for the 2 Nebraska Dudes, no fuel or food.

Just down the street from the BP at the stadium is another gas station with a big lot (on the east side) and a Subway.

Google maps shows it as (approximately) 4214 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City, MO.64133

Ok,

So, how about the Royals Stadium BP Noon? We then drive about 40 miles to Concordia for Lunch.

With a full tank at Kauffman we go 210 miles to Rolla for 93 Octane.. :)

BP on woodschapel road is still open. Ill check tomorrow to see if they have 92.

The station in Grain Valley, Apple Trail does have E85, thats where I get mine. Not sure about 92.

If its warm enough I may want to fill up there as I may run E85. How many miles is it to Rolla? Rolla has E85 as well so id be good if I can make it that far on one tank of E85. It will let me go about 250-270.

195 miles per Google. IIRC it is a haul on premium, I thought with e 85 it goes a lot quicker? They should have e 85 in jeff City. we will have to have a pee break somwhere.

scooby2.5
01-25-2010, 12:50 AM
It does. I get about 50-70 miles less on E85 than on 92. Ill usually get about 300 per tank on 92 with 1.5 to 2.5 left.

On E85 its more like 250. I think I stretched it to 270 once but was at 1 gallon or less when I was able to get gas again.

I went from 22-25 MPG on 91/92 to 16-18 on E85. Course on the E85, my foot seems to push on the gas pedal a little more for some reason ;)

Hydrolix
01-25-2010, 02:18 PM
I get about 14mpg on E85. :P . but then again like you said, I seem to push the pedal harder. :D

How about meeting at Biffles at 1 PM that Thursday?

http://www.bifflesbbq.com/HTdocs/home.html

Exit 58, you go North one block, then left before the gas station and there it is.

It is in concordia Missouri. We can all eat and hang out until we are all there.

Which leads me to a ROLL CALL

Was down on the roads yesterday and most had 6-8 inches of beautiful snow on them. Way more than what they had a Sno Drift last week in Michigan.
If you're gonna sign up to work, I'd appreciate it if you did it soon. Of course, if you're not sure of your schedule yet, can always just show up to register in person. If you did sign up, I'll be sending out some info for you in the next few days.
There's lots of new info on the website, too. 29 entries, so far, but still two weeks for them to sign up.
Fyi, the BP in Salem is now a Mobil and still has 93. The Country Mart in Steelville has 91 and the Mobil in Steelville probably has 91 or 93. Definitely no high octane gas in Viburnum.

I have officially withdrawn from the 100AW also. I thought I would be able to get my break planned around it but I have been home for the last week with mono and I probably wont make it back out to work until next week. It would be kinda hard to ask to fly back home for a weekend now.

WRXNFX

At some time I will need to give Curt the names of who is riding with whom for the working days.

2-3 a car is probably the max, if we put 5 guys in a car, Curt will have a hard time spreading us out in the stage.

I assume that the rides I have in the first thread will hold for working day.

What about the at large people?

Is someone already broken into a car not wanting to drive the stages?

I do not plan to carve up the stages like last year. It was pretty hard on the WRX. Straight line with the flaps the car should not take any damage.

I will be driving with my friend from work.

Id really like to work the start this year and I know you wanted to as well, I guess we shall see where curt puts us.

I did tell him I wanted to work at the start but if not Id do finish again.

The 3 of us is 5 of us.. :) I have 3 in my car.

Maybe Kurt would alternate?

Start is cool, more face time is possible with the drivers, and the launch is great.

Finish you either get the flying finish, which is an at speed finish, or you get the actual timing station where they stop.

So both have there coolness.

In all honesty if Greg has worked finish and want's start, ny car load could just work finish and call it good.

I would wager no one would care if day 2 people traded spots.

Hey, My name is Andrew and I drive an Evo 8. I just joined and Im in Sedalia. I went to 100AW last year and had a blast! I see that you guys are meeting in Concordia Thursday at biffles, I've ate there and the food is great. I was wondering if it would be cool If we meet up with you guys as well and make the trip down to salem. We will be stopping at rolla and staying there for the night and heading to salem fri. morning. It will most likely be me, my friends SR20 240sx and possibly another friend in a Mustang Cobra. It would be awesome if we could meet up with you guys as it would make our trip alot more fun.

Sure. Come on out!! We will go straight through Rolla, down to the Salem fire house to sign in and see tech. there are usually a few rally cars driving around, it is pretty cool. you can drive by the Holiday Inn, might see ACP walking "Boost leak" (Lond story :) )

But yeah feel free to caravan. Reminder to all bring FRS radios, that way we can communicate if we need to stop, if there are cops, or if we are spotting cars for top of hill passing.. :)

BTW there are very few spots to really open up at all on the road to Salem from KC, so it is usually just us in a line doing 10 over..

Crispy I told him you are in, just not sure who you are riding with.

If anybody has some room and it won't put too many people at one place during the stage I'm still on the look-out for a ride. Otherwise I'll just take mine down.

So if anyone would like to volunteer a seat in their car for me to sit in shoot me a PM.

From Curt

"That's just what I needed. I have you down for stages 1,5,6,12 (two each day). I already had you down for finish. On Friday, 1/5 are the same road but you have to drive the stage to swap positions for 5. I'm sure your disappointed in that ;)
Six is down south of Salem, then you have a couple of hours to kill and get to your other stage up north, which will take about an hour of that. I have you going up to the service area in between.
Greg Kaufman is the finish captain, who probably worked with you last year, has a red WRX wagon from Chicago. Dave Kenyon is the start captain, is an older guy, but really nice and drives a silver Forrester.

We have a new beer sponsor this year. It's a new microbrewer here in StL called Six Row. We're getting ESB and a wheat beer. Both are great, as we had a tasting party a couple weeks ago.
"

This is going to be a blast. Working 4 stages will be more work, but more fun, and getting to go to a service is awesome, that is supposed to be a great chance to talk to the drivers and get autographs. :)

We may not get as many chances to spectate, but, working is better anyway.

In all honesty, they take it from the oven directly to the table, is it truely lava hot when it hits the table.

You could cook another pizza on one on the table..

You can see the heat coming off of it like asphault in August.

You got it, we head down to volunteer. We get to have a Subaru stage crew down there so the stages we work will be pretty much all Subies except some of the support crew that will likely be in other rides. Some will run start control, some will run finish, and the rest will be spread out across the stage as marshalls.

It's good times out in the woods, some great roads to drive, the biggest subaru cruises most of us have ever seen, awesome access to race cars, and as always some of the best brotherhood around. Last year was my first time and I can't wait to get back out there.

I'm sure there will be some 100AW oriented meets as we get closer but feel free to ask questions or bring it up at a meet and be prepared for endless stories. We've got plenty of great memories. As Dan said we'll leave Feb 24, probably meet in Concordia for some BBQ again I'd guess. Check in that evening in Salem and see some cars go through tech inspections. Work the next two days at the rally and finish with a big dinner for all the workers and teams on the 26th. Drive home would be the 27th and it's back to real life for a year while we wait for the next one.

Little advice to all planning to go. It have been warm on the past years, and it has been cold a lot more.

You will want to pack like it is camping in that you will be out for at least an hour for every stage we work. likely more like 2 hours, so cold weather gear is a MUST.

We could get luck, we did not do too bad last year. :)

The answer is yes to both. But back then I weighed, at most, a buck fifty soaking wet. And this was before my aforementioned sunny ass moved to FL.

I'll just have to save up my warmth on my Christmas break, drinking beers at the beach and/or poolside.

I was down in Rolla and Salem working this week so I did some scoping for the E85 people. Jeff you can pass this info on if you know anyone else running E85.

If you fill up in KC, Lees Summit is the best place over by Elscooby.

With that said there is now a E85 Station at the I-70/63 south exit 128a that heads to Jeff City, right across the highway from the Steak and Shake we ate at on the way home.

There is also E85 in Rolla and E85 in Salem across from the Holiday Inn Express down on the corner.

For those that want 93 or need to fill up in the Indep. area before heading down I have been using the BP at Blue Ridge behind the new wal mart that replaced Blue Ridge Mall.

They have 93 and of course 93 is all throughout Rolla/Salem area.

I will probably be running E85 this year as I want the extra 50 HP/TQ.

If that is the case either Crispy or Elscooby could ride with me if you want.

I really only want 1 passenger though, less weight

Should have the STI interior in my car by then, I actually have the passenger seat done already.

I guess it's time for me to chime in again this year. As some of you already know, online worker registration is open, so sign up sooner rather than later, as we will be closing the online sign up about a week before the rally (it's too hard to keep track of all the last minutes sign ups online). You can, of course, just come down and sign up in person, but we'd much rather know about your attendance in advance.
The course is all set. All the same roads we've used in the past, but in a different order.
Since we lost the Regional championship part of our event to LSPR, we've added the Honey Jar Challenge. It will be a rotating feature for specific groups of cars, but this year is open to all VW's. There will be a $1500 prize fund, among other things.
Hope to see you there.

Howdy,

Some of you know me. I'm Lee, and Curt's (sorta) right hand man. I drive the 99 Green Outback sport as 000 or 00. Anyway, to let you all know. I have contacted Wallis Oil about 93 octane availability, and the Mobil (formerly BP) in Salem has it as well as the Steelville Mobil. I also explained to them running out in Salem being a bad thing and when I hear back from them, I'll post the reply.

Randy Stroede, who handles the Sweeps is going to be coordinating the marshals as well this year, and I'll be taking care of control workers and the course car people.

if you have any questions regarding working controls, bannering help or course car stuff, please e-mail me at lee.e.hilliard (at) netzero (dot) com

I doubt if you can find a room in Salem, but check specialstage.com for room releases closer to the event. The Viburnum motor lodge always has rooms and is close to Saturdays service. Steelville is of course close to Friday service. Please patronize those businesses that are in counties we rally in. It is a HUGE deal for those communities to have this business. Thanks.

With the rally just over a month away this is a good time to start figuring out the carpool / room arrangements.

Jeff, have you heard any more from Curt or his minions about work assignments? That will play a part in deciding who rides with whom. Having an experienced person ride w/ first-timer(s) could help keep people from getting lost/separated between stages.

So, who has a GPS &/or walkie-talkie?

Oh, and if this will be your first time, hope for temperatures in the 40s (or even 50s) but take clothes that will keep you warm if it drops into the 20s & starts snowing.

Guys, It looks as though I am going to bail on going to 100 AW this year. Sorry Jeff and Chris.

I have a lot going on.... with work, finances etc. Sometimes you have to cut back and this is one thing that I would LOVE to go to but it looks as though I will be cutting the trip this year to allocate that money I would have spent elsewhere.

The Holiday Inn Express in Rolla has 2 room reservations under my name that I will transfer to Jeff.
Jeff Ill be getting a hold of you about this so we can discuss if you want me to transfer them to you or not.

If he does not need both of them, then one of the rooms will need to be cancelled before 6:00PM on the day of arrival or I can have the reservation transferred to someone else that would want it.

Crispy was planning on riding with me down to the meet, so if someone else has room he will need a ride, unless he decides to drive down himself.

Its a lot of fun, and those that have not gone, should go if they can. I have been down the last two years and have had a really great time each time I went.

If anything changes, (and a bed in any of the rooms is still available  ), Ill let you know, but as of right now I am out this year.
