My vote goes for the evening of the 4th. Would be fun to have a potluck going w/ the fireworks display somewhere and a cruise afterwards :D

Parkville and Smithville have shows.

Anyone live within sight of those? Parkville is shooting over the river at english landing park and Smithville is shoting over the dam.

Oh and Worlds of fun seems to have a show. If only we knew someone near there...

Unfortunately I can't vote for a date/time yet because I won't know my work schedule for that weekend until Monday. :(

I'll see if I can work something out with the boss to have the night of the 4th off.

EDIT: By the way, there's usually a firework display at Oak Park HS. That's the one I grew up watching. I think it's Gladstone's official display.

This would be pretty close to your mom's house, but then again the drive to Smithville and around the lake would make for a better cruise.

What are you implying Jeff????

The water tower is within walking distance from my house. The field around the water tower turns into a war zone on the Fourth. It's pretty funny actually and kinda scary at the same time. I usually do the family thing in Riverside during the day and then come back to my house with some friends and we walk up to the church that is on the hill. Its a perfect view of WOF's display and they don't allow fireworks on their property so you can get a bit of a break from the madness. I'm probably going to have a couple of friends over later that night to watch them so if anyone is interested let me know and you can meet us at my place.

Looks like the fireworks displays are on both fri and sat nights at 10. Sat is usually bigger.

I haven't been on the site in about a week...otherwise I would've started up the thread. But i'm glad someone did!

I think it'd be best to have in on Friday evening. The reasoning I have for that decision is because i'll be spending the evening of the fourth with family and close friends and it's always been a big deal in our family. Especially since I just got back home from overseas. Now I understand more people might not have the same going on, but it's just a suggestion. I don't know how involved other people are with their family members on the fourth. If the meet is on the fourth in the evening I more than likely won't be attending and if I do I won't stay for very long. I still would love for it to happen regardless though.

I think a meet/cruis on fri night would be good, since it won't be all hot out during mid day or something like that....and maybe another gathering for some frieworks. I have no plans that entire weekend, so we will be looking for things to do. So I can't vote, because I vote for all of them.

What time are we all meeting up at the airport? I say around 7-ish...that way the rush hour traffic can die down. We could always raid Westport or the Plaza for some grub, just an idea. Uno's pizza or somethin' like that maybe. Or if that's too pricey then we could always find a Hooters!

We might be very limited as to where we can take pictures around the airport. Remember, we live in a post-September 11th world. And I say this because a couple years ago I had the same idea. Well needless to say I had a run in with the KCPD that night. For that very reason.

Downtown Airport isn't commercial so I think it is pretty open. They just have a security guard, they usually will not mess with a group.

Looks like you guys had a blast.

I got on it really good to see how loud it would get between those walls...how was the echo? Could you guys hear the car over the train? :)

On the way back we ran across an 08/09 R1. The biker had an extra person on the back so it wasn't all that fair. I pulled on it pretty good. When he exited he asked if I had a supercharger or had cams...

I told him I had cams, but that they were stock. I wished neither of us had passengers...that would have been a pretty cool run. I was surprised how empty I35 was at 7pm on a Friday night...????

Any of you guys got any tickets...?

On the way back we ran across an 08/09 R1. The biker had an extra person on the back so it wasn't all that fair. I pulled on it pretty good. When he exited he asked if I had a supercharger or had cams...

I told him I had cams, but that they were stock. I wished neither of us had passengers...that would have been a pretty cool run. I was surprised how empty I35 was at 7pm on a Friday night...????

Any of you guys got any tickets...?yeah man it was pretty damn sweet sounding. i love it when you let of the gas it has a nice race car sound of some sort, and yes you could easily hear it over the train. the cruise was. some poeple got confused when it came to the cloverleafs. and no tickets luckly. theres a meet today 7pm at downtown airport.

Wish I could have made it out on the 4th guys. Had a nice time on the 3rd. We'll have to get another meet together before I head back to Oklahoma in a week and a half.
